Hover Julca is a small scale coffee producer from the Tabaconas district in San Ignacio, Cajamarca, with 14 years of experience in coffee cultivation. He is a young producer who is sowing new varieties of coffee such as Geisha, which will bear fruit for the first time in 2023. His plots are at an altitude of more than 1800 meters above sea level, and he works with his wife, Rosoura Santos.
Hover Julca's coffee plots are located in the Urumba Alto village, Tabaconas. The plot is named Finca La Lima, after a fruit plant found inside it, which distinguishes it from the others. Hover was encouraged to work in the farm as a child, and he continues to cultivate coffee, selling his coffee for over £800 per QQ (quintal/46kg), which motivates him to continue his work.
Hover cultivates Catimor, Bourbon, and currently, he has included Geisha into his coffee varieties. The coffee is washed and is grown using potassium sulfate and island guano as fertilisers. A selective harvest is made on the same day that the harvest is spread, then it is fermented for 30 hours in a ceramic tank and dried in solar dryers. The farm covers an area of 4 hectares and yields 3680 kilos of green coffee.
Integra Coffee Technical Team processes this coffee, and stores it in black bags with GrainPro bags to ensure the quality. The coffee is sold by Integra Coffee, a private company formed by two founding partners, one of which is Julca's brother. The company works with independent producers and groups of small producers throughout the coffee value chain.
Integra Coffee works under social and environmental approaches with continuous improvement. The company makes contracts in advance with roasters every year, ensuring the production of its farmers.
Integra Coffee, the company responsible for processing and selling Hover's coffee, works with social and environmental approaches, ensuring the production of farmers through contracts in advance with clients every year. The traceability and good competitive and sustainable market of Hover's coffee highlight the dedication and effort put into its production.
