N/AElmer is the president of Alpes Andinos and a coffee producer recognised for high quality coffees. Elmer has been involved in coffee production since he was five years old, working with varieties such as Caturra, Typica, Bourbon, and Geisha at an altitude of 1850 meters above sea level in the La Coipa District.
Before sowing coffee, the land was a forest, and Elmer inherited the farm from his father. As a child, he was instilled with the understanding that coffee production is his main economic activity.
Elmer picks the coffee beans when they are a mature cherry, with a mix of Caturra and Bourbon varieties in a 40:60 ratio. He uses island guano (bird poo) and compost for fertilisation, and has 5 hectares of land in production, with 2.5 hectares of forest. Once the coffee has been picked he ferments them for 72 hours in cherry, he then pulps them and ferments them again for another 48 hours. Then washes them 3 times and dries them for 15 to 20 days in a solar dryer depending on the weather.
Elmer participated in the Peru Cup of Excellence 2021 competition and ranked 12th. He is recognised for producing good quality coffee and his efforts deserve a fair price. His commitment to instilling quality improvement knowledge is reflected in the success of Alpes Andinos best producers in international competitions. Elmer works for the benefit of all coffee producers in Cajamarca.
Elmer's parents were his first teachers in coffee production, and he has further improved his skills with personalised training by coffee specialists who work with Alpes Andinos. The screen sizing on average is around 15.
